OCTOBER 28 & 29 HOME WEEKEND RECAP

Norman Northstars took on the Winnipeg Wild at home on October 28 and 29. The Northstars fell short Saturday night with a score of 7-5 in favour of the Wild. The Northstars managed to bring the game within one goal with an extra attacker on the ice in the last minute. However, it was a little too late as the Wild were able to capitalize on the empty net and extend their to two goals as Saturday night’s action ended.

Sunday’s contest saw the Northstars strike first within the first minutes of the game. The Wild rallied back and took over the lead by two goals heading to the third period. The third brought tons of scoring as the Northstars managed to tie and take the lead from being down 3-1. Heading down the final stretch of the game saw the Norhtstars leading 4-3 with the Wild answering back to even the score. Extra time was needed to determine a winner and the score remained deadlocked at a score of four to four. After five minutes of three-on-three, the two teams were headed to a shootout. Chantyn Michell-Thompson was the lone goal score for the Norman Northstars as the Wild managed to overcome a third-period deficit and take the extra point in the shootout.

Northstars have the next weekend off and play at home on November 11 & 12 against the Winnipeg Bruins.
